The England Bid

The campaign to bring the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ to England is now underway and England 2018 has been formed to lead England’s Bid

England 2018 is positive the country can stage a fantastic festival of football to engage not only the whole country but football fans from across the world.

David Beckham, one of the England 2018 Vice Presidents has given the bid his complete support alongside Prince William, the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Wayne Rooney and five members of the 1966 World Cup winning squad Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hirst, Martin Peters, Norman Hunter and Peter Bonetti.

FIFA has invited bidding countries to bid for either the 2018 or the 2022 Finals, or both. England has decided to bid for both, with the focus on winning the privilege to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup™.

The Bid Book will be submitted in May 2010, after which FIFA will assess the bids, before making a decision in December 2010.
